New business cards

Yay, They arrived!

When I only have around 20 business cards left, instead of just ordering more, I design new ones.
Different sizes, different pictures, different layouts etc, I'm not sure why, I just do.

Maybe it's because I keep my brand colours and packaging all the same so this is a way of freshening up something.

Anyway, I was once given a business card by a fellow jeweller and her card was only 30mm x 30mm square. Instantly I loved it.
It was cute, could fit in any wallet/purse/pocket and really got your attention.

My last business cards were the average size, so for these ones I thought I'd go with something a little smaller.
They are approx. 25mm x 70mm and made from a really nice (sustainably sourced) cardstock.

I ordered a pack of 100 and have already handed out 30!

Keeping busy.

This is the current situation of my bench today.

It is wet and raining outside and as you can see by the photo, it makes my studio a fair bit darker.
Yesterday was such a gorgeous day, so sunny and cheery and full of light. Oh well, Spring is on it's way.

I have a big handful of orders I'm working on plus some side projects, plus I also have some new lines coming into fruition.
So my hands are keeping very busy indeed.

On the week-end I am heading up to Bendigo to have a look at a store that has asked to hold some of my work - Yay! So that should be fun.

Well, I'd best get back to it because no matter how tight you close your eyes and how hard you wish, pieces don't solder themselves!

RSPCA Cupcake day

Tomorrow is RSPCA cupcake day.

You register online here and then bake your little heart out making a whole heap of cupcakes and decorating them all pretty.
Then sell them all to your friends, family, work colleagues, neighbours etc,

All the money you make is then donated to the RSPCA in
your capital city. Too easy!

So, for the next four weeks, starting tomorrow I will have a section in my online stores with little cupcake jewellery to
sell and donate all proceeds to this cause.
Sales for these items will close on the 14th of September.

So pop on in to one of my stores and buy some bling to
show your support to all creatures great and small.

New niece & new ID bracelets

On the week-end I finally met my new little niece Isla and she is gorgeous.
I'm not new to being an Aunty but until now I had 3 nephews, so snuggling a little girl was a bit different.
All I could think of was all the Barbie's I'll buy her and all the chats about make-up and boys that we'll have!

Anyway, we wanted to give Isla a gift from the entire family as a 'welcome to the family' gift and my sister-in-law suggested an ID bracelet, so I suggested that I make it.

It came out so perfect, I am so happy with it.
When I first put it all together my thought was 'that wouldn't even fit a doll' so I added some more links to make it a bit longer.
I think it will now fit her until she's at least 12!
Why am I so surprised that babies have such tiny wrists? It's times like these you can tell I don't have children.

I'm off to finish up another gift, this one's for my God-daughter who turns sweet 16 on Saturday.

It's a sad day.

At approximately 1.30pm this afternoon,
sweet little Sam passed away.

Sam was expected to undergo surgery today to treat cysts as a result of urogenital chlamydiosis (a life-threatening disease that affects 50% of the koala population) however due to complications with the disease, the decision was taken to put Sam down before surgery to prevent her suffering too much pain.

Mr Tree, the firefighter who featured in the iconic image of Sam, giving her a drink of water, was distraught when told of the sad news.
"She meant so much - she highlighted the plight and vulnerability of Australian wildlife around the world.''

In a statement, Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter said they were grateful for all the support they have received and will continue to provide aid and comfort to distressed and injured wildlife.

Please help them to do so by donating here: Southern Ash Wildlife Shelter

God Bless you Sam.

Here it is:

The coast is clear!
My customer has now given this gift to his wife so I am now able to show pictures and not spoil the surprise.

This is one of the custom orders I have been working on. Every part of it is hand-made by myself and I am pretty pleased with how it came out.

I was sent an email to let me know it got 'two thumbs up' so that's what makes it all worth while.
It was such a personal piece to make and I really enjoyed that, I felt so involved with the piece and with their family.

Thanks to the special person that let me share a milestone in their lives with them.
